This year has undoubtedly been a tough year for Mpumalanga Black Aces striker, Mabhuti Khenyeza. In June, while still contracted to Ajax CT, he was slapped with a 12 month ban from football by the PSL Disciplinary Committee, for spitting at and insulting a match official. This led to Ajax deciding against renewing his contract and it looked like Khenyeza’s career could be over.
Then suddenly out of nowhere, he was thrown a life-line by MP Black Aces, who signed him on a three year deal in July. Aces helped him appeal his ban and they were successful in overturning it and he is now free to play in all football matches.
This is not the end of the drama though. The PSL has now resorted to its last resource and has taken the matter to arbitration, which will take place in September.
But controversy is not something new to Khenyeza. It has always followed him around wherever he goes. This is after all, the same footballer that has played for six different PSL clubs in his career thus far. He has always managed to rebound after the numerous setbacks he has had in his career.
In the six games he’s played for Aces this season, he has already notched up two goals to his name and has looked as lively as ever in front of goal. He has been a pillar of strength for the newly promoted team and has led their attacking line with distinction.
