Speeding success at Saldanha Drags

Saldanha drags brought together a crowd of 15 000 spectators. The event was hosted at he abandoned Saldanha air strip. The event crowns its winner every year as ‘King of Saldanha’ and a R15 000 cash prize was handed over to the winner of this year’s event. The Capetonian winner was a driver of a  Chevrolet Lumia with its twin turbo engine. The beast known as ‘Suspect’ put on an impressive speed of 292kph over an 800 m strip. The event’s proceeds is ploughed back into the poverty stricken areas of Saldanha Bay and contributed to various charities.
